Pallet before...
This is my latest project. To turn this old $2 pallet into a useful & beautiful coffee table.
I cut the pallet into two halves first. After sanding, I applied a charcoal water based tint.
The tint is actually quite blue, but comes across on the wood as grey when dry.
I bonded the two sections together with no-more-nails, then weighed it down overnight to make it stick.
I used these little handy things at about 50cents each to strengthen the hold between the two sections of the pallet, after using no-more-nails for an initial bond.
I had been hunting for castor wheels at local hardware stores but they ranged anything from $17-$50 each (!!) of varying standards and mostly plastic.
So I headed to the markets and found four of these for a total cost of $15 and they are perfect size NZ made rubber wheels with metal base. In the hardware stores these ones would have cost me at least $120.
I measured up where they were to go and drilled some holes...
And the wheels are on now at last!
All done!!
